Am I the only mom who has mixed feelings about the gorgeous weather outside?
Don’t get me wrong – I love the gorgeous flowers and the beautiful green trees outside. I like being able to sit on the deck and work on these sunny days. Unfortunately, it seems like I’m rarely able to enjoy the amazing weather because I’m always on the go.
If it’s not cub scouts, it’s girl scouts. If there are no volleyball practices, there are probably soccer games. When there is no piano, there is usually gymnastics. Or a playdate. Or a birthday party.
And it’s not like I’m over-scheduling my kids. There are just SO MANY activities for one mom when there are three kids who all play a sport, want to scout and take music and other lessons.
It took me a while, but I finally figured out how to deal with so many different activities during the week. The kids all keep a bag in my car with books and crafts they can work on when they’re waiting during a sibling’s lesson. And to keep everyone from getting hangry while we wait, I’ve started bringing an after-school snack for the kids.
This week, I totally rocked it as a mom and brought a snack AND a craft in one. The kids loved it!
I was bringing the kids’ favorite goldfish for a snack and decided to bring a few supplies along and let the kids create their own craft. I’ve seen clothespin butterflies on Pinterest before and thought they’d be fun to make with Goldfish Colors Cheddar crackers, so we gave it a try.
The results were awesome!
Easy Crafts for Kids
To make the butterflies, the kids just added some of their favorite Goldfish crackers to a sandwich bag. They attached a clothespin onto the middle of each bag, separating the Goldfish crackers into two equal sides for the ‘wings’. For the body, the kids used washi tape, and for the eyes, they used self-sticking googly eyes. To finish the butterflies, the children added antennae made from pipe cleaners. So easy and so fun!
The kids had so much fun making the butterflies that they each made a few for their school snacks later in the week. They were definitely a hit!
If you want to create a smile-worthy moment with your kids, give this fun little activity a try. The kids will have a blast creating their own butterflies and will love being able to enjoy their Goldfish crackers snack too!
Goldfish crackers are always baked with real cheese and contain no artificial flavors or preservatives, so they’re a snack I feel good about giving my children. Be sure to try this fun craft and snack activity with your kids and Goldfish Cheddar crackers!
