It’s a great time to start planning beach trips and cookouts, so let’s talk about an awesome recipe for the summer. Whether you fire up your grill or bake in the oven, these shrimp kabobs are crispy, delicious and will be a huge hit with family and friends!
The best part? They’re super easy to make and ready in less than 15 minutes!
I have to admit that up until a couple of years ago, I had NO idea how easy it was to serve shrimp. I envisioned cleaning (how do you clean shrimp?), breading and frying the shrimp, while quite possibly setting the kitchen on fire.
It turns out, all I have to do is turn on the oven. That is SO my style and level of cooking.
With frozen shrimp products, the work is all done. I can bake the shrimp in just minutes and have crispy, flavorful shrimp that I’d never imagined serving in my own home.
Just bake them, serve them and bask in the compliments without ever telling the truth about how easy they were. 🙂
For our shrimp kabobs, I wanted to make something super easy, something fast and something that the kids would love. One of my kids loves shrimp, one likes them depending on her mood, and the other is on the fence.
But what they all love is fun.
Kids love foods that are fun to eat, so I decided to create a “Shrimp Kabob Bar” for them. They absolutely love it!
Easy Shrimp Kabobs
Ingredients
1 package frozen popcorn shrimp
Wooden Skewers
Dipping Sauces (Tarter, BBQ, Cocktail, Ranch, etc)
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 450°
2. Place shrimp on baking sheet in a single layer so shrimp are not touching.
3. Bake 5 minutes on the middle over rack, then turn shrimp over.
4. Bake another 5-6 minutes until shrimp are hot and crispy.
5. Using a fork to hold the hot shrimp in place, slide shrimp onto wooden skewers.
6. Serve with small sides of sauces for each person. I used Tarter Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, BBQ Sauce and Ranch Dressing.
Tips:
~ If cooking on the grill, be sure to soak the wooden skewers in water for 10-15 minutes so they don’t burn. After soaking, slide the shrimp onto the wet skewers and cook on the grill until hot and crispy.
~ My kids like to dip each shrimp individually, so they’ll dip the top one, eat it, and then slide the next one up. I usually only put 3 or 4 shrimps on each skewer so they don’t have to slide them as much.
