I love to read. I have a stack of books by the side of my bed and am always adding new ones to my “to be read” pile. There aren’t many things that I love to do as much as I love curling up with a good book.
In fact, this was an order of books we placed last year.
It was better than Christmas! Everyone was so excited about taking their books to their rooms and looking through them, deciding which to read first.
Almost every room in the house has a bookcase and/or reading nook. Each of the kids has a reading area in her/his bedroom, we have a reading area in the playroom and one in the family room.
So it’s not unusual to find the kids off in different areas of the house. I love finding them curled up with a book.
If you read books like I do, you know how awesome it is to find a book series that you love. You don’t have to stop reading the stories that you love when the book ends. You can follow those beloved characters again in a new story.
My kids feel exactly the same way about the Magic Tree House Books by Mary Pope Osborne.
Kids can follow Jack and Annie though dozens of adventures in the Magic Tree House books. Jack and Annie, a brother and sister who find a magical tree house filled with books, travel through different time periods, different countries and even mythical locations as they research and find clues and information to help them complete their missions.
My kids love reading the Magic Tree House stories and going along on the adventures. I love that my kids are learning about different cultures and times in history while they read.
I’m thankful that we are able to give our children the books they want to read. Too many children in this country aren’t as lucky as we are, so I was thrilled to learn about .
The Soar With Reading program was created by JetBlue (LOVE JetBlue!) in 2011 to get books into the hands of children in need. Since then, JetBlue and their partners have donated over $750,000 worth of books to children across the country.
This year, JetBlue is partnering with Magic Tree House author Mary Pope Osborne and Random House to bring children the wonderful stories of Magic Tree House books.
You can !
Head over to Soar With Reading and guess where Jack and Annie will head next. Listen to the clue from Mary Pope Osborne and then make your guess. That’s it! Another book donated!
After you donate your book, be sure to enter to win one of the amazing prizes!

Don’t forget to donate a book with just a click at !
Tell me, what books are you and your kids reading this summer?
My kiddos love anything they can get their hands on. My oldest will reread her young adult books and my Brooklin is just starting with early reading. Books are a must for travel too!
We have every Magic Tree House book ever written and my kids love them. They have all been read multiple times each.
I have so many books also I have boxes and boxes full of them in the spare room as all our book shelves are full.My kids really like reading also.
This is a great program! The unfortunate part of families in need is that it’s a horrible, repeating cycle. Kids in need generally don’t have access to quality schools and quality educational tools. This leads to a lack of opportunities, which leads to another generation of a family in need. This is one small step towards ending that. Remember though, the long journey begins with one step.
Even I am jealous of your children’s reading nooks! I had a spot in the family room where I used to sit by the window and read but we had to get rid of that sofa…now I usually read in bed!
My son has a bookcase in his room, and we’ve converted the one in our dining room to hold many of his books. He’s a fan of Sesame Street books, and the Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar.
I love this program. My little girl is getting ready to start school, and I find the lack of funding in our schools to be very concerning. I love programs that promote reading and the donation of school supplies.
We’ve done a lot of reading this summer, especially my toddler who just loves books. This is a great program and from an airline that I love too. Awesome!
I am a book lover as well. Magic Tree House is pretty awesome. Great contest they are having. When we move I already have plans to make a Little Library and post in in my yard. I would love to encourage reading more.
That is such a great concept by Jet Blue. We have a lot of kids books running around our house from when I worked in child care but we don’t have kids. I think I’m going to gather them up and give them a donate.
Man I use to love reading as a child, still do! And I am so glad my kids got that from me because they enjoy reading too!
I really love to read but haven’t had much time to do that. I have a 3 year old so not much time to myself but I enjoy reading her books to her!
Good for Jet Blue! And we loved reading the Magic Tree House books!
Mitch
I love to read. I’m glad my grandkids love their books too.
It really is nice to find a series that you love. I like that JetBlue is doing this, and we have reading nooks all over our house too. 🙂
That is so cool that JetBlue launched that program. Hooray for reading!
I am intrigued by the Magic Tree House books. I bet my son would love those. And winning with JetBlue vacation always works for me. 🙂
My kids used to love the Magic Treehouse books. I think it’s great that Jet Blue is doing this program!
That is a great amount of books. Nice that Jet Blue does have great program.
I’m reading lots of biographies. Right now I’m reading one on Clare Boothe Luce, who wrote “The Women” and was also an Ambassador. My kids are reading all sorts, super heroes, Berenstain Bears, Flat Stanley – we go to the library weekly and they pick out stacks of books to read!
We love reading those Magic Tree House books, too! I’m loving this Soar with Reading program. It is perfect for our family.
My family and I love to read! My daughter is reading anything and everything by John Green this summer!
We’re a big reading family, too! My two older boys love these books!
Congrats to Jet Blue for this program – great way to share books – over 1 million so far is HUGE amount of books
What a great program. I am a huge reader and hope to pass this along to my kids.
I love seeing that HUGE stack of books! This summer I have been reading a lot of Janet Evanovich novels.
What a great thing for JetBlue to do! We donate all of our old books to the local schools so I love seeing others help the reading cause as well!
I love that Jet Blue is getting involved in a great education campaign! Wow, giving free books is awesome!
My kids are still pretty young. We read a lot of different books. My son’s favorite right now is called “No David!”
Any program that encourages reading is a win in my book. I hope the children in my class are reading this summer…I may just have to check up on a few of them. 🙂
I haven’t been reading much, but I know my son is reading the Game of Thrones series. I shipped them to him. 😉
We LOVE Tree House Books in my house. My 9 year old loves the adventures the siblings go on!
I just few Jet Blue this weekend and grabbed a pamphlet about this program. Glad you refreshed my memory. I hadn’t gotten around to reading it.
What a great contest. I love Jet Blue. Great service and fantastic prices. I have not read any books this summer although I do have a big stack!
The kids love to read the Magic Tree House books! We actually just read one together the other night.
My kids love reading! They’ll read just about anything age appropriate.
My kids love to read. We’ve been reading Hatchett, Mrs. Frisby and the rats of nymh and some gymnastics books. What a great thing to support.
What a great program! My kids love to read and I couldn’t imagine children not having access to books. So glad programs like this exists.
I love that they do this program every year. What a wonderful cause. We love reading.
My son is finishing the third book in the Allegiant series. He is almost 30 and finally started reading again, they loved reading when they were little.
My son is actually reading a Magic Treehouse book right now. I think I’ve read around 5-6 books this summer.
We love the Magic Tree House books! Sounds like a great program with Jet Blue!
We love to read! Books are one of our favorite things and our children have all taken on that love to read too! Great post and great to see kiddos loving books so much!
