When we were looking for a new house a few years ago, there was one thing my husband and I both absolutely had to have – a nice back yard. We wanted to be able to relax on a back porch or patio and enjoy the view. So when we found a lot with a protected wood area behind it, we knew we’d found the perfect spot for our new home.
We ended up building both a screened-in porch and a open deck off the back of the house and it’s one of our favorite areas of the entire house. In the spring and fall we love to cook out on the grill and enjoy dinner outside. During the crazy heat of summer, we’ll play games and hang out on the shaded screened porch and enjoy a cool breeze from the ceiling fan.
But as much as I love that area, it’s never been very pretty.
We bought nice furniture for it and the view outside is beautiful, but it just never looked as nice as I wanted it to. I’d been meaning to fix it up for years, but the job seemed too expensive to take on.
Until last week.
I was challenged to makeover my back porch on a strict budget. To see if I could create high style on a low budget of $250.
I have to say, I am THRILLED with the outcome!
Isn’t it pretty?
I got everything I needed for less than $250 at my local At Home store!
I can’t believe I had no idea how amazing At Home stores are! Our store is only about 15 minutes away, but I’d never gone inside until last week. Everything, everything I could have wanted for my porch was at At Home.
From home decorating to entertaining, At Home has it all. The stores get in over 500 new items every week, including art and décor, lamps, vases, furniture, textiles, housewares, patio & garden, rugs, seasonal and more.
I have to admit, I walked the store for hours. Literally.
It was like a home decorator’s Heaven. There were such beautiful colors and patterns to choose from, I almost didn’t know where to start. I considered going with a gorgeous sunny yellow, but finally decided that the red had the bolder pop of color that I wanted.
Once I’d decided on the red, it was easy to find everything I could possibly want to decorate the porch. There were coordinating red patterns and solids in every department. I found baskets, candles, blankets, flowers, vases, and so many other decor items that all matched or coordinated perfectly with each other.
I love it!
I am so happy with the results that I’ve spent more time on the back porch in the last week than I have in months. And though I wish I’d done it years ago, the makeover would never have been possible without the amazing prices and selection of At Home, so I’m glad I waited.
I’m so happy with the results, I’ve already started to plan makeovers of other areas of the house. Stay tuned!
Be sure to visit your local At Home store and create your own high style on a low budget!
